Aims

Overall Aims

To transfer knowledge and skills to pupils that enable a better understanding of and control over painting particularly with regards to colour and tone with wider implications in art, design and general aesthetics.

To provide teaching staff with a framework of knowledge and skills to consolidate, sustain and transfer such skills to future generations.

To help build a future framework around which a school can base part of its art practice in general and colour use in particular so that pupils can have a coherent and consistent approach throughout their primary school years, without constraining creative output, with a simple but rigorous approach that builds year on year.

To create an awareness of transferable concepts, in particularly how complex systems can be built up from much simpler parts, and the dynamics and equilibrium that exist between abstract concepts such as colour, tone and scale.
