BINBROOK SCHOOL COLOUR PAINTING PROJECT 2008

LEAD ARTIST ALEXIS RAGO

Artist Alexis Rago was asked by the Arts and Study Support department of Lincolnshire School Improvement Service to devise a programme of workshops for Children at Binbrook School in the Lincolnshire Wolds.

During the first planning meeting Alexis Rago proposed a plan to create a complete painting curriculum for the 4 - 11 year olds. This would introduce and develop skills in colour mixing and colour theory in an empirical and practice centred way.

Each age-group took part in a series of workshops the content of which was designed to be appropriate for the respective stage of the pupils' development. With increasing age the content became progressively more complex.

Within a short period Alexis was able to guide all the pupils through the course which eventually could be implemented in the school. This would guide pupils lin the handling of colour in painting from the first to last year.
